Last month, we got confirmation that the MINI Clubvan was heading to production and would be coming to America by September of 2012.
The British automaker has now revealed the production model Clubvan along with some of the model variants that will be offered this fall in Europe. The MINI One Clubvan will pack a meager 98-hp while the turbocharged-diesel Cooper D Clubvan will have 112-hp. Those hungering for more performance can opt for the Cooper Clubvan with 122-hp.
The two-seater Clubvan is being called “the world’s first premium compact delivery van” by the automaker, which is based on the Clubman model but tosses out the rear seat in exchange for more cargo space. And to those affected, the Clubvan is classified as a commercial vehicle and is taxed at a lower rate.
It’s not all just about the additional cargo space that the Clubvan has to offer though. The unique MINI model also features 12-volt sockets in the cargo area to help power electrical equipment, while six attachment loops are recessed into the floor at the edge of the load area to secure cargo of all shapes and sizes.
A six-speed manual transmission is standard in all three models while the MINI Cooper D Clubvan can be had with a six-speed automatic as an option. The Clubvan model will launch with four paint shades: Pepper White, Ice Blue, British Racing Green metallic, and Midnight Black metallic. Standard wheels are in a 15-inch sizing, but buyers can choose from larger 16- and 17-inch upgrades.
No pricing was announced for the MINI Clubvan, we expect it to come closer to the model’s launch. Also look for the usual engine choices for North America.
